Good evening, it is time to link up with Mrs. Wills for a Peek at my Week. I apologize for missing last week. I was out of town spending the weekend with my grandmother. It was a wonderful weekend and blogging was put on hold for a time. This is week 5. We are learning about apples. This week we will be reading fictional stories about apple trees and apples. We are working on Concepts of print and word tracking. We will use my Concept of Prints Emergent Reader for apples. The booklets have dots on the words for the students to practice work tracking. We are adding our first vowel to our letter knowledge this week. We will learn both the long and the short sound of Aa. We will use letter tiles for M, T, S, P, & A to create words and learn how to sound out words. In math we will be working on the numbers 3 & 4. Our school is working on number sense in all grades this year. I am focusing and a number for two days. We will count the num......
Yes, I am back at school. But this week our preschool week. I am not planning per say. I am preparing to plan. Here is a peek at what I am doing this week. But I did create my lesson plan template and resources. My district provides us with frameworks that are divided into units. They provide us with a year long map of when to teach and assess the standards. I create an excel spreadsheet of the Kindergarten standards. I make 8 copies for ELA. Then I go through and highlight the standards for each unit provided by the district, deleting any not being taught during that unit. I do the same thing for math. I use this as my reference each week when planning. It also make documenting my standards easy, the pages are attached to my planning spreadsheet. Easy!! Then I had to create my lesson plan template for the year. I use an Excel Spreadsheet so I can tweak it throughout the year. I never use the same format two years in a row. Here is this year's format.......
A new week is upon us, so what's up with Krogh's Kids. I get to read on of my favorite books... There are so many comprehension activities to go along with the book. Because of its repetitive nature, the kids easily remember the story. The kids love adding the sounds as I read and become part of the story telling. I will be adding the felt pieces to our library center for independent retelling. This year I am adding a new piece to the week, the video. How I have missed this all these years, I do not know. It doesn't matter now. I can't wait to share it this week. What's up with you this week?...
I have made it the ought the first two weeks of school. Procedures and routines are being learned. Now it is time to add a few more. In that order, I have laminating and sticker charts to cut out. Feet up and DRV going, relaxing teacher style. ...
What better way to get started with blogging than a Linky Party?!?! I can't think of one. I was wondering what to post next, but now I have 5 days of topics. Plus, posting every day will help me get into a good habit... bonus!!! Today's topic is time saving tips. I have read a few other blogs linked up today and realize we all do some similar things to save time. Just proves we are all pretty smart and that they are proven tips. My first tip is at home. My alarm goes off at 5:30am and I will anything to stay in bed a few extra minutes. I start the night before. I am a southern girl and LOVE my iced tea during the day. I also prefer fresh tea. Each night I make my tea for the next day, in the green lid Teavana pitcher, it can cool overnight and I am set. I also measure out the tea leave for my hot tea, in the purple tea kettle (also from Teavana). My second tip is at school; lesson plans. They can take so long. My principal allows us to create weekly pl......
